Is Lifestyle Photography the Best Way to go?
3 Popular Types of Photography
There are 3 main types of photography that we do as Seattle Photographers: Portrait photography, Lifestyle photography, and Documentary photography. Portrait photography is the old school, fancy pants style of a very posed nature: you sit, you smile and we tell you to turn or tilt your head, blah, blah, blah…you get it:). Portrait photography is great for typical headshots and traditional family pics over the ole fire place mantel. Documentary photography is completely the opposite and unscripted. We try to remain as invisible as possible so we can document the moment as accurately as possible. (There are some moments at weddings and special events that we use documentary style photography.) And last but certainly not least, there is Lifestyle photography. In our opinion, Lifestyle photography is the Goldilocks of photography: not too staged, not too unscripted…JUST RIGHT!
Great for Capturing the Best Moments of Life
Lifestyle photography captures real life with a little direction from us to help clients get started. But that being said, if you have animals or wee-ones that absolutely can’t take direction. We are ready to pop into documentary style photography to catch the most authentic moment.
Sooo, is it the Best Way to Go??
Lifestyle photography is very popular right now and there is a good reason why. The world is changing fast. With all the social media hyped photography in our faces 24/7, people are craving something more real. People are craving authenticity, real happiness and peace of mind. The answer to our original question is…it depends! What type of photography will feel timeless to YOU and YOUR family? If that is a portrait in a wood frame on your piano, then do that! If it’s a photo of your family cuddling and giggling on a couch, then Lifestyle photography is for you.
